Many of the companies in Illinois Volunteer Regiments during the Civil War were recruited within a specific area of a state. This database matches the recruitment locations (counties) with the companies. Note that not all soldiers from a particular county enlisted in companies from that county. Many joined regiments from neighboring counties or even regiments from other states.
